2008 Kite Flight Schedule

The following events occur in 2009.

June 27

Kite Fly and Historical Reenactment at
  Fort Ridgely State Park
Saturday, June 27, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fort Ridgely State Park, 72158 County Road 30, Fairfax, MN

Soldiers in Civil War costumes will give period demonstrations
at the park. Kite Fly and demonstrations to occur near the
park's History Center.

The previously mentioned kite making workshop has been
cancelled.

Fort Ridgely State Park is located about 90 miles southwest
of Minneapolis, MN and about four miles south of Fairfax, MN
at the junction of Hwy 4 and County Road 30.

July 4

4th of July Kite Fly
Saturday, July 4, noon to 4 p.m.
Rushford Municipal Airport, Rushford, MN

The Rushford Municipal Airport will be closed
during the hours of this event.

Rushford, MN is located about 125 miles southeast of
St. Paul, MN.

From I-90 exit at Co. Rd. 43. Go south about ten miles
to Rushford. (Co. Rd. 43 becomes Mill Street in Rushford.)
Near the south end of downtown, turn right at Co. Rd. 30.
Go west on Co. Rd. 30 about 3 1/2 miles. At the top of
the hill, turn left at "City of Rushford Village Road" and
go south about 1/2 mile to the airport on the east side
of the road.

August

The Minnesota Kite Society's summer kite festival,
Flying Colors, has been cancelled for 2009. The board
continues to seek a new festival site for it.

Please look back at our website in 2010 for the date
and location of this event.

The McLeod County Fairgrounds are located on the
south side of the city of Hutchinson, MN.  Hutchinson
is located about 55 miles west of Minneapolis, MN at
the junction of state Highways 7 and 15.

September 12

Prairie Winds Kite Fly
Saturday, September 12, noon to 5 p.m.
Jackson Municipal Airport, on 800th St. just east of Hwy 71
Jackson, MN

The airport in Jackson is closed to aircraft during the festival.
Activities include kite flying, a kids kite making workshop and
games for children.

Rochester, MN is located north of I-90 in southeastern Minnesota
or about 75 miles southeast of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN.

Saturday, October 31, noon to 4 p.m.

From I-494 in Bloomington, exit at Penn Avenue. Go south
about 3/4 mile to the stoplight at W 84th Street. Turn right
and go west about 1/4 mile to Washburn Elementary School
which is on the south side of the street.
