Sat, June 5, 10:30am – 11:30am

7850 Lake Drive, Lino Lakes, MN (map)

Help us kick off the start of the summer season and celebrate the end of the school year by joining us for a morning of kite flying fun! Adults and children of all ages are invited to experience the fun of Kite Day. Each person that attends will receive a FREE kite to fly. Come be a part of the annual kick off to summer celebration!

New this year -- members of the Minnesota Kite Society will show off their skills and kites throughout the morning.

Kites will be distributed from 10:30a - 11:30a (or until they are gone - whichever comes first), but feel free to stay and fly your kite as long as you want.

Here is a link to the flier on the Lino Lakes website for the event.

This was a nice event even though the wind didn't show up and it started to rain around 11:30. There were lots of kids running and running and running. They were having fun.

Tom brought some of his kite collection to display, showed off some of his kites and gave some instruction about how to launch a kite to the crowd.

As mentioned earlier there was no wind at all, so the kites were kid powered which was probably a good thing. One item on the bad side of the event were the power lines that pass through the middle of the park. So it was really good that flying was limited to short strings and running.

Here are some pictures.
