Services

The Minnesota Kite Society works to promote kite flying with flying and educational events.

We are always looking for community events to partner with. If you would like MKS to partner with your event for a kite fly, workshop or exhibit or are looking for information about kiting please Contact Us.

Flying events

Major events sponsored by the MKS include the Lake Harriet Winter Kite Fly, the St. Paul Winter Carnival's Frosty Fingers Kite Fly on the last weekend of January, the Kiwanis Kite Fly, the Flying Colors Kite Festival in August, and the One Sky One World kite fly for world peace and environmental awareness on the second Sunday of October.

You can find our flight schedule on our Event Calendar.

Come FLY WITH US!!! Have some fun!

Kite Education and Kite Building Workshops

Another way that MKS promotes kites and kite flying is by putting on kite making workshops. We can put on workshops that are great for kids or organize more advanced kite making workshops.

We also provide links to other organizations with kite history and kite making plans and lessons on our website.

Exhibits/displays

The MKS is fortunate in that member Tom Cross is a kite memorabilia collecting fanatic. Tom collects anything to do with kites and enjoys sharing his collection with the public.

We also have several members which have displayed their kite collections as art in museums, malls, concert halls and various public places.

If events or organizations would like to have an exhibition or display, send your information to us through our contact us page and we can help you out.
