11th Annual Color The Wind Kite Festival

Sat, February 18, 11am – 4pm

On the ice by the sea wall near downtown, Clear Lake, IA (map)

The 11th annual "Color the Wind" Kite Festival will feature an exciting variety of huge show kites, ground displays and choregraphed kite ballet demonstrations. Kites will be available for sale in the shelter across the street from the lake: Food and refreshments will be available. Weather permitting, the festival will start at 11 a.m. on the snow and ice of Clear Lake. FFI and weather updates, see www.colorthewind.org as the date approaches.

Update from the color the wind website, February 11, 2012: The show will go on! We have a safe covering of ice on the lake--about 12". Depending on the wind, the festivities will start at about 11am on Saturday, February 18th and will continue until about 4 pm. We have both Fire and Ice and 180Go ready to perform their kite ballets, great big kites, handmade kites and the snowflake kites like those from the Starbucks commercial. We may even do "The Chicken Dance"!

Be sure to visit the Lakeview Room across the street from the flying field to warm up, view the display of kite memorabilia, buy your own kite, get a cookie or bag of caramel corn from the "Relay for Life" folks or just warm up!

Don't forget that The Backyard Deli will be on site with their lunch wagon.....bratwurst, burgers, chili, etc.
