03/13/2010 - St. Patrick's Day Fly - Siren, WI

MKS members attended a St. Patrick's Day kite fly in Siren, WI on March 13, 2010.

The Chamber of Commerce in Siren, WI (located in the NW corner of Wisconsin) invited us to fly on Crooked Lake on the north side of Siren. With the warm, early spring-like temperatures the lake was too wet and slushy to fly on. We flew at their alternate site which was the town's high school.

We erected banners, spin-socks and flags for a ground display. The MKS gazebo was up and we sold some of our small sled kites. We also managed to put up some kites for show. John and Ken flew stunt kites and gave a few flying lessons.

There was a steady stream of people coming by to check it out. We had a couple hundred people stop and participate throughout the afternoon.

The Siren Chamber of Commerce hopes to make this an annual event.

Ken, Brad, John and Dean would like to thank the folks from Siren for their hospitality. Lunch was great! Thanks to the Girl Scouts that helped us put up our ground display!

As a first time event it was successful. People had fun.

Here are some pictures from Dean's facebook album. If anyone has additional pictures of the event they would like to share with us, please contact us.
